Its 1.0-type stacked sensor is roughly 6x larger in area than the P1100's 1/2.3-inch sensor, its lens stays a bright f/2.4-4.0 through the zoom range, and its 575-point AI autofocus, 30fps bursts, and oversampled 4K60p 10-bit video are in a different class entirely. Better in low light, better for cropping, better for video.
Choose the Nikon P1100 if…
You want reach nothing else in this price range touches — 125x optical zoom to a 3000mm equivalent, for the moon, distant wildlife, or plane-spotting, plus a fully vari-angle screen. Accept a much smaller sensor, a slow f/8 aperture at full zoom, contrast-only autofocus, and roughly half the RX10 V's price.
