Sony RX10 V vs RX10 IV
Same 24-600mm lens, same 20.1MP sensor — after a 9-year wait, what did Sony actually change?
Last updated: 9 October 2026 · Prices include VAT · RX10 V specs from Sony's official page
Choose the Sony RX10 V if…
You want the real generational leap on the same lens and sensor size — 575-point AI subject recognition (human/animal/bird/insect/vehicle) instead of older tracking, 30fps blackout-free bursts, 4K video up to 120p with 10-bit 4:2:2 recording, a much bigger and sharper EVF, and roughly 50% more battery life. Built for wildlife, sports, and serious video work.
An RX10 IV still works well if…
You already own one — it still delivers the same 24-600mm reach and 20.1MP stills that made the series popular, and autofocus speed or 4K 120p video isn't critical to your work. It also keeps one thing the V dropped: a built-in pop-up flash. Sony no longer sells it new; it's now a used/secondhand-only option.

Frequently asked questions
What does the Sony RX10 V cost in Oman?
899.000 OMR including VAT at Skyorbits. Live availability is on its product page.
What actually changed from the RX10 IV?
The autofocus (575 phase-detection points), blackout-free bursts up to 30 fps, 4K video up to 120p with 10-bit 4:2:2, and a bigger 0.5-type 3.68-million-dot OLED viewfinder.
Is the lens or sensor different?
No. Both use a 24–600 mm ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* F2.4–4.0 lens and a 20.1 MP 1.0-type stacked sensor; the RX10 V pairs it with Sony's newer BIONZ XR engine.
Can I still buy a new RX10 IV?
Sony no longer sells it new, so it is now a used or second-hand option. Skyorbits sells the RX10 V.
Is the upgrade worth it for wildlife and sport?
Yes if you shoot moving subjects: the 575-point autofocus with blackout-free 30 fps bursts is the biggest change. For landscapes and static subjects, the shared lens and sensor make the gap smaller.
Can I pay in installments?
Yes. Bank Muscat and Meethaq card plans are open to everyone; Skyorbits in-house installments are for Omani nationals aged 18 or over, from 200.000 OMR, with management approval.
Can I see it in Muscat?
Yes, at our Al Khoud showroom (Al Khoud Oasis Complex, shop 103). Message us first so we can tell you what is in.
