What 32-bit float actually means
Most wireless mic disasters are not equipment failures. Someone laughs into the mic and the take clips. Ordinary recording bakes that distortion into the file permanently. 32-bit float carries so much headroom that the level can be pulled back down in the edit and the audio recovers. All three do it — that used to be the deciding feature, and it is not any more.
How to actually choose
- You might mic a third person → DJI Mic 3. It is the only one that scales, and it is also the cheapest. Nothing else here does it at any price.
- You clip a mic to a guest in every video → Insta360 Mic Pro. The E-Ink screen turns their collar into your channel branding, and it has the longest battery of the three.
- You want lavaliers in the box and timecode → RODE Wireless PRO. The built-in transmitter mics are fine, but real lavaliers hidden under a shirt look far better on camera — and buying two separately closes most of the 20 OMR gap anyway.
- Shooting outdoors at distance → DJI or Insta360. 400m against RODE's 260m is a real difference.
