Get the Voyager if…

You want the same optical formula and nearly the same weight as Sony's own lens, for 144.100 OMR less — and you don't mind a slightly shorter minimum focus distance or being an early adopter of a brand-new lens maker's first autofocus zoom.

Get the Sony FE 24-50mm G if…

You want the full official Sony ecosystem (warranty, long track record, wide service support), a closer minimum focus distance for casual macro-ish shots, and you'd rather pay more for a proven name than save on a newcomer.

“The Voyager would be a handy companion lens that lives up to its namesake.”

— Chris Niccolls, PetaPixel

“The images that the lens produces had me seriously considering why anyone should buy another OEM lens.”

— Alberto Lima, The Phoblographer

The honest trade-off

Independent reviewers found the Voyager's center sharpness "very good" at f/2.8, with edge and corner performance improving noticeably stopped down — strong results for the price. The most consistent knock across reviews was occasional autofocus inconsistency, and a shorter minimum focus distance than the Sony (0.216x vs 0.33x magnification) means it's a weaker choice if close-up/macro-style shots matter to you. If you shoot mostly landscapes, travel, documentary, or street work at normal distances, that gap won't show up in your day-to-day results.
