Screen in your hand, or goggles on your face?
That one question decides everything after it — the controller, the skill curve, the price. Weight and camera come later.
What do the names mean?
Neo, Flip, Mini, Air, Mavic — the difference
The names run by size and camera. Neo, Flip and Mini sit under 250 g per DJI's own published weights; Air and Mavic are larger with stronger cameras. Avata is a different thing entirely — it flies with goggles.
The lightest — launches from your palm, no controller needed. 135 g per DJI's own spec.
