Pocket camera, flagship autofocus.
The RX100 VII took the autofocus system Sony built for its professional bodies and put it in a jacket pocket. 357 phase-detection points and 425 contrast points, acquiring focus in 0.02 seconds, with Real-time Eye AF running up to 60 calculations a second — on a camera with a 24-200mm lens built into it. The 20.1MP stacked sensor shoots blackout-free at 20 fps, so you keep seeing the subject while you're firing. For video it reads the full sensor width with no pixel binning and 1.7x oversampling, and there's a microphone input — the reason this one became the vlogging default.
Who it's for: travellers, vloggers, and anyone who wants a real camera without a bag.
