Insta360 X6 vs X5

Same 8K headline. Almost everything underneath it changed.

The short answer. If you already own an X5 and you only ever export at 8K30, keep it — it is still a very good camera. Upgrade to the X6 if you shoot fast movement, shoot after sunset, shoot underwater, or run out of battery. The X6 records 8K at 50fps instead of 30, lasts 140 minutes instead of 93, goes 20 m deep instead of 15, and adds Dolby Vision and 64 GB of storage inside the camera.

Get the X6 if…

318.000 OMR

You ride, dive, ski or shoot anything fast — 8K50 is the difference between a smooth reframe and a stuttery one. You shoot at night. You want Dolby Vision and I-Log for grading. Or you are simply tired of swapping cards and batteries.

Stay on the X5 if…

234.900 OMR

You post to Instagram and YouTube at 4K, you shoot mostly in daylight, and 93 minutes covers your day. The X5 still does true 8K, still has I-Log, still has FlowState. Nothing about it stopped working the day the X6 arrived.

Where they are the same

Both shoot true 8K 360, both have FlowState stabilisation with 360° Horizon Lock, both have PureVideo for low light, both have I-Log, both have replaceable lenses, both use the same app and Studio software, and both work with the same invisible selfie sticks.

One honest note on the sensor. Insta360 markets the X6 as "1-inch imaging". The measured sensor is 1/1.1" per Insta360's own spec sheet — genuinely bigger than the X5's 1/1.28", but not a true one-inch sensor. We would rather you heard that from us.

Coming from an X3 or X4? Then it is not close — take the X6.

The montage edits itself on the X6

The X6 adds Insta360’s Zero Editing suite — AI Director picks the angles, Auto Edit 2.0 cuts your 360 footage into a finished montage, and Moments Pro collects highlights in the cloud. It’s a suite the X5’s spec sheet simply doesn’t have.
