The X6 records 8K at 50fps instead of 30, lasts 140 minutes instead of 93, goes 20 m deep instead of 15, and adds Dolby Vision and 64 GB of storage inside the camera.

Stay on the X5 if…

Both shoot true 8K 360, both have FlowState stabilisation with 360° Horizon Lock, both have PureVideo for low light, both have I-Log, both have replaceable lenses, both use the same app and Studio software, and both work with the same invisible selfie sticks.
One honest note on the sensor. Insta360 markets the X6 as "1-inch imaging". The measured sensor is 1/1.1" per Insta360's own spec sheet — genuinely bigger than the X5's 1/1.28", but not a true one-inch sensor. We would rather you heard that from us.
Coming from an X3 or X4? Then it is not close — take the X6.
