These aren't two versions of the same camera. The X-E5 is a rangefinder-style enthusiast camera — 40.2MP, in-body stabilisation and a built-in viewfinder in a machined aluminium body. The X-M5 is the lightest, most affordable way into Fujifilm — a 26.1MP creator camera built around video and a flip-out screen, with no viewfinder and no stabilisation. Same beautiful Fujifilm colours; two very different tools. Here's which one fits you.
Choose the X-E5 if…
You're a photographer first. You want the highest resolution (40.2MP), in-body stabilisation for sharp handheld shots, and a real viewfinder to compose with at eye level — all in a premium rangefinder body with a machined aluminium top plate and a dedicated Film Simulation dial. The classic street-and-travel camera you keep for years.
Choose the X-M5 if…
You shoot mostly video and want the lightest, most affordable Fujifilm. The vari-angle screen flips to face you for vlogging and selfies, the 6.2K/4K60 video is excellent, and at ~355g it's the lightest camera in the X Series — easy to carry all day. No viewfinder and no IBIS, but far lighter on your shoulder and your wallet.
