Short answer: The Canon EOS R8 with the RF 24-105mm F4L IS USM is one of the simplest ways into full frame: a 24.2-megapixel full-frame body of about 461 g with battery and card, and a 700 g weather-resistant L zoom that goes from wide 24mm to portrait 105mm at a constant f/4. The lens adds a 5-stop optical stabiliser, which matters because the R8 has no stabiliser in the body. Video is strong for the size: 4K up to 60p from the full width of the sensor, Full HD up to 180p and Canon Log 3. The honest catches: about 370 shots per battery on the screen, one card slot, and f/4 is not the brightest for very dark halls. Our kit adds a SanDisk 64GB V30 card and a COOPIC bag, at 749.000 OMR including VAT, with authorised warranty.
Most people who ask us about full frame want one thing: a camera they can take to a wedding on Thursday, a trip on the weekend and a video job the week after, without carrying a bag of lenses. This kit is built for that.
What is in the kit
- Canon EOS R8 Mirrorless Camera Body: 24.2MP full-frame sensor, DIGIC X
- Canon RF 24-105mm F4L IS USM Lens: constant f/4 zoom with a 5-stop stabiliser
- SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB SDXC V30 card
- COOPIC BL-25 L camera bag
The kit costs less than buying the four items one by one, and it all comes in one order.
Why full frame, and why this body
A full-frame sensor is 35.9 x 23.9 mm, the size of a 35mm film frame. In practice that means cleaner pictures when the light drops and softer backgrounds behind people. The R8 puts that sensor in a body of about 414 g, or 461 g with battery and card, so it is a camera you actually carry.
Autofocus is Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with eye, face and tracking detection for people, animals and vehicles, and Canon rates it down to EV -6.5. ISO runs from 100 to 102,400, expandable to 204,800.
One lens for the whole day
24mm fits a group, a room or a wide view of the mountains. 50mm is a natural view for the street and food. 105mm pulls a face out of a busy hall for a clean portrait. Because the aperture stays at f/4 across the zoom, the exposure does not jump while you zoom, which helps on video too.
Canon builds it with 18 elements in 14 groups, including aspherical and UD elements, a 9-blade aperture, Nano USM focusing that is fast and almost silent, a closest focus of 0.45 m and a control ring for camera settings. It takes 77 mm filters.
“A highly versatile 24-105mm zoom lens offering photographers and filmmakers an ideal balance between performance, portability and image quality.” — Canon, RF 24-105mm F4L IS USM page (read 30 October 2026)
Weddings and events
At a wedding you rarely get to change lenses. This kit stays on 24mm for the family photo and goes to 105mm for the bride's entrance without a pause. Eye detection holds focus on faces as people move.
Two things to plan for. f/4 is not the brightest aperture, so in a very dark hall you will raise ISO; the R8 handles that well, but a fast prime helps if dark halls are most of your work. And carry a spare battery: Canon rates about 370 shots with the screen and about 220 with the viewfinder.
Travel in Oman and beyond
Body and lens together weigh about 1.16 kg with battery and card. Canon describes the lens as having dust- and water-resistant construction, with fluorine coatings on the front and rear elements that make them easy to clean, which is useful on a windy beach or a dusty wadi road. Canon also notes that no sealing can completely stop dust or water from getting in, so keep it in the bag between shots.
Video for creators
| Mode | What Canon lists |
|---|---|
| 4K UHD | Up to 59.94 fps, full sensor width, from 6K oversampling |
| Full HD slow motion | Up to 179.82 fps |
| Colour | Canon Log 3, 10-bit 4:2:2 |
| Stabilisation | Lens (5 stops on the RF 24-105mm F4L) or digital |
| Audio | Built-in stereo mic and a 3.5 mm mic input |
Canon notes that 4K at 59.94p can run for about 30 minutes without a heat limit when you start at 23°C, and that a hot camera may record for less. In an Omani summer, film in the shade when you can. Canon also recommends UHS-II cards for 4K video; the kit's card is UHS-I V30, so add a UHS-II card if you film a lot of 4K.
R8 or R8 Mark II?
Canon has announced the EOS R8 Mark II with a 24.2MP full-frame sensor and image stabilisation in the body. If you film handheld a lot with lenses that have no stabiliser, that body is worth waiting for. With this kit, the RF 24-105mm F4L already brings a 5-stop optical stabiliser, so you can start shooting today.

Frequently asked questions
What is in the Canon EOS R8 kit with the RF 24-105mm F4L?
Four items: the Canon EOS R8 full-frame mirrorless body, the Canon RF 24-105mm F4L IS USM lens, a SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB SDXC V30 card and a COOPIC BL-25 L camera bag. The kit costs less than buying the four items one by one.
Does the Canon EOS R8 have in-body image stabilisation?
No. Canon lists the R8's stabilisation as lens or digital only. The RF 24-105mm F4L in this kit has its own optical stabiliser, which Canon rates at 5 stops.
Can the Canon R8 film 4K without a crop?
Yes. Canon lists 4K UHD up to 59.94 frames per second using the full width of the sensor, generated from 6K oversampling, plus Full HD up to 179.82 frames per second for slow motion. It also records Canon Log 3 in 10-bit.
Is the RF 24-105mm F4L good for weddings in Oman?
It covers a wedding from wide group shots at 24mm to close portraits at 105mm without changing lenses, and the f/4 aperture stays the same across the zoom. For very dark halls, f/4 is not the brightest; for photos the R8 can raise ISO up to 102,400, and Canon rates its autofocus down to EV -6.5.
How many photos does the Canon R8 battery give?
Canon rates the LP-E17 battery at about 370 shots with the screen and about 220 with the viewfinder, at 23°C. For a wedding or a full travel day, carry at least one spare battery.
Is the 64GB V30 card in the kit enough for 4K?
Canon recommends UHS-II cards for 4K video and for high-speed continuous shooting. The card in the kit is a UHS-I V30 card: a good start for photos and Full HD. If you plan to film a lot of 4K, add a UHS-II card.
Should I wait for the Canon EOS R8 Mark II?
Canon announced the R8 Mark II with a 24.2MP full-frame sensor and image stabilisation in the body. Wait for it if you film handheld a lot with lenses that have no stabiliser. With this kit, the RF 24-105mm F4L already brings a 5-stop optical stabiliser, so the R8 is ready to shoot today.
How much is the Canon R8 kit with the RF 24-105mm F4L in Oman?
