Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II firmware update
OptionalWhat's new
- Adds continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking at up to 120 images per second when used with the ILCE-9M3 (a9 III).
Should you update?
Optional
This update only adds a feature for the a9 III. With other Sony cameras it is optional.
How to update
- Attach the lens to your Sony E-mount camera and check the lens version: MENU > Setup > Version. If it shows Ver.02, no update is needed.
- Download the lens updater for Windows or Mac from Sony's page (button below). On a Mac, also install Sony's Sony Camera Driver first.
- Use a camera battery with at least 3 bars (about 51%). On the camera, set USB Connection to Mass Storage. Take the memory card out and detach the vertical grip if one is fitted.
- Connect the camera to the computer with the camera's USB cable and follow the updater's steps.
Sony stopped the memory-card version of this lens update for the a7 V (ILCE-7M5) on 10 March 2026: with that camera, update from a computer.
