Should you update?
Update now
Worth it if you shoot high-speed sync on a Canon R1, R6 Mark III, R50 V or PowerShot V1, or use a Nikon Z8 or Z9. The new lock and distance options come with V1.03 on the V480C, S, F and O.
How to update
- Check your version: after the flash powers on, go to the menu and find the device information at the very end (for example, Version 1.00 shows as V1.00).
- Godox says to update with its G3 firmware software, version 1.1 or later. Download G3 for Windows or Mac from Godox's software page: Godox G3.
- From Godox's flash firmware list (button below), download the file for your exact model: V480C, V480N, V480S, V480F or V480O, as written on your flash or its box. The list runs over several pages; the V480 files are a few pages in.
- Open G3 on the computer and follow the steps it shows to load the file. Godox gives no further steps for the V480.
Let us update it for you
Book an appointment and our salesman updates your device in our showroom: 2.000 OMR if you bought it from Skyorbits, 5.000 OMR if you bought it elsewhere (incl. VAT, paid in the showroom).
When you book, type the version your device shows now (see How to update above). He checks it first: if your device is already up to date, he tells you and you don't need to come.
We take each update's notes from the maker's own page. An update can reach devices in Oman a few days after it is published. Every fact double-checked against the maker's page: 17-10-2026
