The do-everything 35mm prime for Nikon Z — APO optics, and small enough to leave on the body. The Viltrox AF 35mm f/1.8 II (Viltrox's own name for it is AF 35mm F1.8 EVO Z APO) is a full-frame 35mm prime for the Nikon Z mount. It is built on an APO optical design of 13 elements in 10 groups, including 2 ED, 3 high-refractive and 1 ultra-aspherical element, which lines the red, green and blue wavelengths up on the same focal plane and takes colour fringing out of high-contrast edges. The bright f/1.8 aperture and a 9-blade diaphragm separate a subject cleanly and keep highlights round, and an STM stepping motor with internal focusing keeps autofocus fast and quiet for both stills and video, with the barrel length fixed. It focuses down to 0.34m for 0.15× magnification, takes 58mm filters, has a rubber-sealed mount and a water- and smudge-resistant front element for shooting in light rain or dust, and updates its own firmware over USB-C.
Who it's for: street, travel, vlogging, portrait and event shooters on Nikon Z full-frame who want one lens that stays on the camera.
