The Hoya 62mm HMC UV (HMCUV62mm) is a standard ultraviolet filter carrying Hoya's HMC multi-layer coating. Hoya rate average light transmission at over 97% and design the coating to minimise reflection on the filter surfaces, which cuts flare and ghosting compared with an uncoated glass. It cuts the full range of UV, which Hoya say gives sharpness and clarity without affecting colour balance, and the glass is the highest-quality heat-resistant tempered type. The frame is aluminium, and 62mm is one of the fourteen sizes Hoya list. Left on the lens it also does the everyday job of a protector — Hoya recommend constant use for lens protection.
