Sony FX30 firmware update
Update, but read this firstWhat's new
- 6.01 (17 Mar 2026): optimises user LUT processing and improves overall performance and stability.
- Sony's page also lists earlier changes, without versions or dates: the BIG6 home screen, a Fixed/Variable S&Q mode, Blackmagic RAW recording over HDMI, automatic connection with a USB-LAN adapter, Clip Flag filtering for transfers, and direct upload to Creators' Cloud.
- The Security (IPsec) function and WPA/WEP Wi-Fi are no longer supported (use Access Authen. and WPA2 or WPA3).

Read first: Sony advises re-registering a saved user LUT before updating if you are on 5.00 or 5.01.
How to update
- Download BODYDATA.DAT from Sony's page (button below). You can also download it with Sony's Creators' App.
- Format a memory card in the camera (this erases it), then save BODYDATA.DAT in the root of the card. Don't rename it, and keep only one BODYDATA.DAT on the card.
- Use a fully charged NP-FZ100 battery (the update only runs at three bars or 51% and up).
- Put the card in the camera. On the camera: MENU › Setup › Setup Option › Version › Body, choose Software Update, then Execute.
- It takes about 6 minutes. Don't remove the battery or the card. The camera restarts by itself when it is done.
If the camera is hot, the update may not start: wait for it to cool down.
Put the card in slot 1: only slot 1 reads the update. On 1.02 or earlier, update to 1.05 first, then 6.01: Sony says going straight to 6.01 gives an error.
Let us update it for you
Book an appointment and our salesman updates your device in our showroom: 2.000 OMR if you bought it from Skyorbits, 5.000 OMR if you bought it elsewhere (incl. VAT, paid in the showroom).
