Should you update?
Update now
A stability update. If your camera is older than 4.02, WPA and WEP Wi-Fi stop working after updating: use WPA2.
How to update
- Check your version: MENU > Setup7 > Version > Body.
- Download the System Software Updater for Windows or Mac from Sony's page (button below). Sony gives no memory-card version for this camera. On Windows it needs Windows 11 and an Intel or AMD PC (ARM PCs are not supported).
- Use a fully charged NP-FZ100 battery: the update only runs with three bars or more. Take the vertical grip off if one is fitted, and take the memory card out.
- On the camera, set USB Connection to Mass Storage, then connect it to the computer with the supplied USB cable and follow the updater's steps.
- It takes about 10 minutes. Never turn the camera off or unplug the cable while it runs.
Let us update it for you
Book an appointment and our salesman updates your device in our showroom: 2.000 OMR if you bought it from Skyorbits, 5.000 OMR if you bought it elsewhere (incl. VAT, paid in the showroom).
When you book, type the version your device shows now (see How to update above). He checks it first: if your device is already up to date, he tells you and you don't need to come.
We take each update's notes from the maker's own page. An update can reach devices in Oman a few days after it is published. Every fact double-checked against the maker's page: 17-10-2026
