For the first time, DJI's pocket camera has real competition. Within weeks of each other, two dual-lens, 1-inch-sensor pocket cinema cameras are arriving — DJI's Osmo Pocket 4 Pro and the Leica-engineered Insta360 Luna Ultra. It's the most interesting head-to-head this category has seen since DJI more or less invented it back in 2018. Here's how they stack up, and which one is worth waiting for — from the team at SkyOrbits in Muscat.
The short version
- Want a proven, all-in-one system that just works the moment you pick it up? DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro.
- Want maximum flexibility, Leica optics, and a design you can physically reconfigure? Insta360 Luna Ultra.
A quick honesty note before the specs: both cameras are brand-new. DJI has officially teased the Pocket 4 Pro and Insta360 has previewed the Luna Ultra with Leica, but some final numbers are still being confirmed. We've labelled what's confirmed versus expected, and we'll update this page as the last details land.
The real difference: integrated vs modular
DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro is the classic Pocket formula, refined. A sealed, genuinely pocketable gimbal camera with a built-in dual-lens system — a 1-inch main sensor plus a dedicated 3x optical telephoto, the first time the Pocket line has offered true optical zoom rather than a digital crop. DJI's real strength is the ecosystem around it: the app, ActiveTrack subject tracking, and the wireless mic and accessory range are all designed to click together. You pick it up and shoot.
Insta360 Luna Ultra takes a different path. Co-engineered with Leica, it also runs a 1-inch sensor with a dual-lens setup — a bright f/1.8 wide plus a telephoto delivering roughly 3x optical and up to 6x lossless zoom. But its signature trick is a modular "Twist" design that lets the gimbal head detach from the handle, along with a rotating screen and, on the higher kit, a detachable remote. More pieces to think about — and far more ways to rig it for awkward angles, tripods, and creative setups.

Figures marked "expected" are based on pre-launch information and may change at final release.
So which one?
For most solo creators and vloggers who want grab-and-go reliability and a tightly integrated accessory ecosystem, the Pocket 4 Pro is the safer pick — DJI has refined this exact form factor over four generations.
For travel, documentary, and run-and-gun shooters who value Leica glass, higher-resolution options, and a rig they can take apart and reconfigure, the Luna Ultra is the more ambitious tool — it's trying to do things no pocket camera has done before.
Coming to Oman — both of them
One practical point worth knowing: in the United States, the Pocket 4 Pro faces regulatory hurdles and may not be sold through official channels, which has pushed some American buyers toward the Luna Ultra. That restriction doesn't apply here. As soon as either camera reaches the Middle East, SkyOrbits will bring it to Oman — so your decision comes down to what you actually want to shoot, not what you're allowed to buy.
